HONCAST Top 10 Community Poll (6/9)

Nick 'BreakyCPK' Caras at Wed, Jun 9, 2010 12:41 - PDT

HONCAST sent out a poll to the honcast staff and a couple of community representatives and here are the results.  Be sure to compare these results to the Stock Rankings over at http://www.konspiracy.org and with our last time rankings as well

Top 10 HoN Team Rankings for week of (6/09)

1.    {LOAD} Team Loaded – 74 (4) [ 0 ]

So LOAD played a couple of games since the last community rankings two weeks ago, and both of those were in the finals of the vVv tournament against team fiVe.  They ended up going 1-1 against them, however due to LOAD coming out of the losers bracket they needed to win twice while fiVe only needed to win once.  So look at it how you will, but team fiVe did official beat LOAD in the finals, however LOAD still has a strong presence in half of the voters mind of being the number one seed.  This is probably the first time we have a very good argument for who really is first, but when the votes came down to it, LOAD once again rains supreme amongst the top HoN teams in the competitive community.

2.    {MSI} Fnatic.MSI – 71 (3) [ +1 ]

The team that has no doubt been on the hottest streak as of late and were VERY close to finally knocking off team LOAD, Fnatic.MSI is the future.  With very impressive victories over both Kde in the ESL finals and then team fiVe in the TWL Division Finals, there is no doubt that they do deserve the hype that they have gotten ever since the fresh and kay pick ups.  And using all of this momentum going into the DreamHack event, you know that they will no doubt be the favorites to win it all.  Receiving three of the first place votes they are already making that strong push needed to pass LOAD and will no doubt pass them next time around if they win the DreamHack event come next rankings.

3.    {5} Team fiVe – 63 (1) [ +1 ]

The team that is still no doubt a top tier team, however seem to be very shaky when it comes to stability and consistency.  Against LOAD in the vVv finals they came out flat in the first game, allowing LOAD to take it with what seemed like ease.  However in the second game, they came out full force and finished them off to gain the vVv title.  Then came the TWL match against MSI, early on in the match team fiVe seemed to have a sure victory, however odd item choices mixed with some bad decisions resulted in a loss in the end.  So all though team fiVe has moved up a spot in the community rankings this week from three to four and even gained a first place vote, it is not sure whether this team is really on the rise or going to struggle.

4.    {Kde} KD-Gaming – 62 [ -2 ]

The only reason Kde managed to fall from second to fourth is simply because they lost their only match played, which was to MSI in the ESL finals.  However, with very few competitive games being played right now between the top teams due to current tournament formats, you have to make the best of all opportunities you do get.  There is no doubt that KD-Gaming is still a power house team and can easily make a move back up once again come next rankings, but for now they will have to deal with falling to fourth.  Also, expect KD-Gaming to bring some very solid competition to MSI come the DreamHack event and pending what happens there could determine a lot next time around as well.

5.    {Dwi} Deal with it – 46 [ +2 ]

The first team outside of the “big four”, Deal with it has been no doubt the top contender to perhaps make a push into that section if any.  Coming onto the competitive scene very strong, they have already clinched invitational berths for both the Neva and Honcast tournaments and not because of lack of competition either.  They defeated NEVA, uqt and Empr on route to their Honcast V Tournament victory, all teams very worthy of top 10 appearances themselves.  With not much experience under their belt however due to winning tournaments so early into their existence, we will see if it is a path that DWi can keep up with.

6.    {Empr} Empire Gaming – 35 [ New ]

Formerly known as phB, Empire Gaming has made a very strong comeback onto the competitive scene taking the Neva VII event as well as making it to the finals in the HCT V tournament.  Now also with the announcement of phe'V resuming his play with the team once again, these guys are no doubt a team that will be a powerhouse to match up against for a good time to come.  However already falling off the scene once for a while, hopefully that is not something that we see to be a trend as Empire Gaming really is a fun team to spectate as well.

7.    {t7h} Take it to the house – 33 [ -2 ]

With some very disappointing outings lately, take it to the house has fallen two spots especially after their first round upset in the Honcast V tournament losing to xFin.  But, t7h came back with a vengeance as they won the very next Honcast VI tournament as well as making the Neva VIII Finals where they found themselves losing to tSm in 2-1.  So what was perhaps just a hiccup for this solid team, they have an opportunity coming up to prove that they deserve to move back up in the rankings with both the Neva and Gamereplay tournaments.

8.    {tSm} Tease Em – 18 [ +2 ]

Tease Em, a team that barely managed to hang on to the 10th place spot last community rankings managed to get things back on track and win the Neva VIII event.  So they still remain one of only three teams (LOAD and 5) to still have been on every community ranking since the beginning and once again gain some momentum.  With a couple of new players added to their roster, it seems like it might have been the trick to rejuvenating this team, and the community will get to see what they really are made of come the final two weeks in the Honcast Tournament series.

9.    {TLR} The Last Resort – 17 [ -3 ]

The biggest fall of the week of teams still remaining on the list, The Last Resort have been doing just enough to get by.  The furthest they have been in recent tournament play was the Neva VII event where they found themselves in the semi finals, but with only two spots remaining in the Honcast Tournament Invitational you know that TLR will have a statement to make about that.  Perhaps they are just another team that had their time but now is fading out, we will just have to wait and see if TLR can come back and play at the level they were playing at early on.

10.    {DrDz} Druidz – 13 [ -2 ]

Another EU team that started off strong and looked very promising, but has just had some disappointing outings the last couple of weeks.  They have done enough to reach the semi finals in the last several Honcast and Neva events, however have still yet to get over that hump and actually move on.  With Loda showing more signs of actually playing with the team as bigger tournaments are coming up, the community will get a chance to see if this team is for real or if the hype is nothing to be too excited about.

*() = Number of 1st place votes
**[] = Spaces moved from previous list
*** Points were given on a 1-10 scale, 1st place granted 10 points and 10th granted 1 point.
